Belly Dance HOW TO secrets:
How to do undulations ("camel" and "horse")
“Camel”
and “Horse” are just one undulation, which is performed in two directions:
up or down. “Camel” is a wafe which moving upward, and “Horse” is a wafe
which moving downward.
Camel can be done
in many different ways. One of the ways which we learn in the beginnng – to
make a vertical circle with the breast. (you can try it with DVD “Oriental
arms and upper body technique”). Another way is to make this movement
starting from the level of upper belly only, not moving breast so much. And
the third way is to make this movement only with the weist and hips. In the
second and third ways the circular movement looses its vertical dimension,
so that you move mainly forward and backward.
When you do camel, it is important to not lift up your
pelvice, because it never can be done in easy way, and therefore it would
look not smooth. You can make a camel with relaxed
belly, or together with
belly rolls, but without
lifting up your pelvice.
In order to make this undulation in opposite direction
(“horse”) we start with making vertical circle with our pelvice. First lift
it up, then stretch it forward, then lower it as if you want to sit, and
then push it backward by bending lower back forward.
The technique of undulations (“camel” and “horse”) is easy to learn step by step, as we do during the course. It reduces belly and gives unique massage to all the vertebras of the spine, improving their flexibility. Very precious for sitting life style.
